Title: [WB] Barry HALL
Post by: Wolf on March 14, 2010, 01:40:48 PM
I'm considering getting Barry Hall, as he has killed it in the Nab Cup and this could just be a sneak preview to what is yet to come in the main season, I also think that the Bulldogs style of play is gunna be a massive benifit for him this year.

What does anyone else think???

Previously I have been burnt by him, so I am a little wary. I mean with his temper and all.

On the other hand though he should be awesome for the Dogs and his SC should improve. It is a tough one but it comes down to whether or not he snaps.

I think that if big bad barry can stay out of trouble his SC value will rise and that maybe the time to trade him for a ROK before his value drops.

It wouldn't suprise me if he's a keeper - and with his ability to score so highly he will be a great cash cow if a premium falls and you want to get them in

Pretty good chance Hall will reach 500k+ during the season. Question is whether or not he will get suspended or injured. If he does then Hall can easily be traded for another premium anyways.

He's certainly got the potential to get up to that much, and if he does then he could easily be kept, or traded as you say

It's hard to ignore his NAB Cup, and I was not convinced until I saw his game against St Kilda.  However, heallows you to trade down your 4th forward which frees up enough cash tio make some significant upgrades in other areas.

For example, I traded down Gia for Hall and was as a consequence able to upgerade Jolly to Sandilands.

If Hall has a brain snap some time during the season, then hopefully this form continues to at least get him up into the mid - high $400Ks.

Barry Hall has made his way into TEAM DAZZLER DTF, the question marks I still have in terms of this is the fact that for similar $$$, you can get Ballanyne, Z or The Med, so I am still umming and ahhing by his inclusion..
We all love to see the big fella firing though dont we ??

I'm picking him up just for the enjoyment of it as much as anything else

Barry will be a starter om most Supercoach teams if he can play like he did against the saints his value will rise to that of possibly Jonathon Brown.

I was sucked into his preseason form like all 50% of us were..

After two rounds things are anti-climatic.

I understand its only early but averaging a mere 51.50. He has a breakeven of 118. And with that average is looking to drop his price by $109,000.

However, there is little doubt that average will increase, but increase by how much?

I am sure some of you are going to lay him off. Whats everyones thoughts?

Why the hell is Halls breakeven so high if he only averaged 60 odd last year? Glad I didnt pick him but wouldnt have even considered him if I knew how high that B/E was!

If Hall maintains his average of 52, he will drop in price by $29k immediately after R3.  If he scores 52 for every remaining game until the end of the season, his final price will be $109k lower than his current price.

If there's one thing we know - it's that Hall is capable of big games. Wait for him to make you some good cash before trading him out! Not before!!

It's going to be very difficult at 6pm tonight to stop myself from trading Hall for Dangerfield. Dangerfield is due for a handy rise all things constant after this weekend. Who will be the better SC player this year?

Even if I can get J Brown in for him (after trading Tippett to Seaby)?

Barry Should be able to lift his SC Score this week to get close to the Break even score of 118.

Barry Hall monstered Josh Gibson in the preseason.  No reason to think he won't do it again this weekend when the Bulldogs play the Hawks.

No, Gibson won't be playing on him. This time you will expect Hall to face Gilham plus Gibson playing as third man up. So it won't be as easy this time round.

Bloody Beautiful Big Bad Bazza! 6 Majors, monstered the Hawks once Gibson did a Hammy

Well I was correct and you were wrong.  Gibson lined up on Hall and got beaten hands down to the first contest before shortly afterwards doing his hamstring.

And Hall actually scored more goals this time too than in the preseason.  I'm definitely laughing last and hardest.  Go Doggies!

Hawthorn will struggle in defence all year but as for Barry yes he eas unstoppable but 4 of his 6 goals came in the last quarter. Against teams that don't butcher the ball like Hawks do he won't score as many.

Imagine if the Bulldogs actually played to their full potential, what sort of scores Hall could get.  Dogs have been pretty ordinary to date in 2010 but it is only April.

When should those that have him upgrade Hall?

Title: Re: [WB] Barry HALL
Post by: Reservoir Dogs on May 03, 2010, 04:26:17 PM
I've got Hall, and despite some of his poor scores, I'm still relatively happy with having picked him. He's pulled out a couple of really good scores and has done ok for his starting value. He is the typical sort of full-forward who could score poorly one week, but then blow a game to bits the following week. There is always the prospect of him pulling out a good score.

Unless there is a good reason early in the season (such as injury or suspension or a greatly fallen premium who is too good to avoid), I reckon Hall will be one of the last players that I upgrade to a premium.

Exactly as Reservoir Dogs says, you should upgrade Hall when you have no other non-premium forwards to upgrade.

But you don't think he's a keeper on his current form?

Title: Re: [WB] Barry HALL

Not yet, no I don't think Hall is a keeper.  But he's a better mid-pricer than Medhurst-Murphy-Dangerfield-etc.

~75 at half time. Glad I held off trading him this week.

Still so inconsistent....I would dump him now that he has gained some cash.

Title: Re: [WB] Barry HALL
Post by: Ben on May 15, 2010, 06:49:44 PM
Actually he'll lose a bit of cash, his breakeven should be pretty low the next 2 rounds though, once his 31 and 29 drop out of his rolling average.

Title: Re: [WB] Barry HALL
Post by: Carsot on May 15, 2010, 08:16:29 PM
Thats even worst! Means you need to keep him for a bit longer.

Title: Re: [WB] Barry HALL
Post by: Reservoir Dogs on May 16, 2010, 11:10:38 AM
Despite that fact that Hall looks likely to take a rest week soon enough, he is at least guaranteed a game at the moment. With the amount of popular forwards who have been out of the side (or out of form) for various reasons, you'd want to be very careful making trades in this part of your team at the moment, particularly when it comes to trading out players who are actually getting a game and have the potential to bring in some big numbers.

My original intention was to keep Hall until about mid-season and it's looking like that target is still on the cards.

Luckily some of us had the faith and stuck with Bazza at least it makes up for the Miserable 30 we got from ROK. I think he deserves another week at least before we trade him out.Who has the Kangaroos got that can stop him.

Definitely worth holding on to at least until those 2 sub 40 scores drop out from his rolling average.

Great time to trade Hall out now, I reckon.

Hall's value is ~$50k more than his starting price and this is after a game of 120, leaving him with a new b/e of 85.

Going to have to hold onto him for the time being.

Team is almost finished, Hall will need upgrading, but I can't free up any $$ until Fyfe peaks.

86 at half time with a breakeven of 59, seems there is still cash to be made out of the old fella yet.

I made the upgrade to Didak last week. Didak was very good and outscored Hall, but Hall's score was still resepectable. This week, Hall has a blinder and Didak is out. It's gonna cost me a league win too, I reckon!  >:(

i get real close to trading him about every three weeks...then BAM he rips it out.

chappy below 600k now though....if i didnt have higgins languishing on the bench itd be a no brainer.

bahahah glad I wasnt the only one. Cost me a win and dropped out of the top 500. Thing I didnt check which my mate im playing this weekend kindly reminded me of is that the Doggies are playing the Eagles....and Didak isnt even confirmed for next week. my worst decision of the year i think.
