Preseason Hype
Kurt Tippett, $425 900, Kurt Tippett – ‘A Player A Day’ article.
The Bargain
Patrick Dangerfield, $332 700, is in his 3rd year on Adelaide’s list and has had a strong preseason thus far as he looks to consolidate on more time in the midfield. Also available as a forward this year, the former number 10 draft pick looks to hold the most value on the Crow’s list.
The ‘I Told You So’
Trent Hentschel, $277 000, after another round of solid preseason training reports Hentschel’s name has again been thrown around. Don’t get sucked in by him again or all you’re going to hear is ‘I told you so’. Unreliable in getting and staying on the park and unreliable in SC scoring.
The Rookie
Phil Davis, $100 200, 195cm who can play both up front and down back (where the Crows have prepped him for) and should get some games in his 2nd year on the list. Reports have been good of his preseason training, but 85kg for a 195cm guy is still a bit too light for a KPP. Otten’s ACL bodes well for Davis’ chances of breaking into the side, but after watching his NAB Cup game against PA many have put a line through this rookie. Still the best rookie option on Adelaide’s list in 2010.
The Smokey
Brett Burton, $268 700, ($229,400) – Forward
I stress – NOT a keeper but there’s value to be had here. Old age and a susceptibility to injuries will see him miss enough games during the season to not warrant a ‘keeper’ position. HOWEVER, he will average at least 80-85 whilst on the park and so if he can string together enough games early in the year he’ll make you enough cash to straight swap him to a premium forward. Sound tempting, anyone?
The Superstar
Bernie Vince, $519 600, will take over as the superstar on Adelaide’s list by the end of 2010. Clear the way, Goodwin and you other old fogies. Won his first B&F (with, I’m sure, a 2nd on its way this year) and actually still has value left in him. Averaged 98 in SC last year and if he takes the next step can average anywhere between 110 and 120 a season.
Fantasy-Relevant Walking Wounded
Brett Burton, might not make it back for round 1 after an arthroscopy.
Chris Knights, diagnosed with a stress fracture, likely to miss the first couple weeks of the season.
Andy Otten, will miss 2010 with an ACL.

good writeup. birdman did his knee a couple of weeks ago and isn’t expected to be back for the start of the season, i’m not sure who you’d put in his place, but I would have thought that would rule him out.
I missed that one JJ. Thanks for the pick up. That does rule the oldie out…
how will vince stand up to the tag this year??? im really worried about this
I believe that his standing in opposition coaches’ eyes was already high in 09′ and from memory he was only tagged in a few games in the H&A season last year.
Not too concerned about the tag.
I think he would’ve already been rated higher than Goodwin & Thompson & co. (except for probably McLeod) in terms of tagability and yet he was often left head-to-head.
I don’t think he’ll be tagged constantly. Maybe 60% of the games he’ll be tagged but you’ll also get an overall increase in scoring capability as he further matures.
Adelaide has also been feeding him the ball more and more, season by season. He was 7th in the league for handball receives last year and his uncontested possession was at a career high 77%. It’s obvious that Vince is the Ablett of Adelaide. He’s their designated go to guy. They’ll funnel the ball through him and block for him which also means more outside play. That’s something we like looking out for
