We encountered a couple of problems with Mark’s audio this week that we weren’t able to fix during the recording (due to time restraints). However, it’s just a touch of distortion that occurs for a couple of minutes and it should be more than bearable. YSCC Podcast Teaser | Round 5

While the podcast was originally scheduled for fortnightly releases, due to popular demand Mark and I have decided to aim for weekly podcast releases with the occasional week off.

This is one such week. As it is a short week of SC this week (having had the footy drag into Monday), and as there isn’t much to discuss, we thought that this would be a good time to take the week off.

However, as we are still dedicated to releasing content, during our weeks off we will still run a piece entitled ‘Podcast Teaser’ with some of our regular podcast segments.

Score Updates

Marcus: Round 5 score: 2301. Overall ranking: 5099th.

Mark: Round 5 score: 2359. Overall ranking: 6260th.

YSCCE ranking: 17th

Superstars of the Week

Mark: Jack Trengove

Trengove was super on the weekend. He has been building up to this performance in the recent weeks and finally capitalised on his efforts and persistence. He had 24 disposals at 92% efficiency and kicked 2 goals. He finished with 129 points and earned the Rising Star nomination for the week. He reminds me a lot of Jimmy Bartel and should turn out to be a great player. Hold him for at least 2 more weeks while the big score calculates in his price movements.

Marcus: Aaron Sandilands

Sandilands finished with the 2nd highest score of the round: 145. On just 36SC points at half-time, Sandi absolutely turned it on in the 3rd term earning a ludicrous 95 points in that quarter. Have you ever heard of a ruckman being tagged? Well – that’s just how good he was on the weekend… Shane Tuck was put on him to attempt to curb the big man’s influence on the game. He’s an absolute star of SC and currently is as important as Gazza is to your team, as he’s just that much better than all the other ruckmen.

Surprises of the Week

Marcus: Daniel Wells

Wells played both in the midfield and the half-back line this weekend and was the Kangaroos’ best. Not only did he kick 3 important goals for the Roos, he was racking up the disposals too. With scores of 134, 114 and 114 in the last 3 rounds, has Wells finally matured into a consistently good footballer? Three quality games in a row certainly comes as a surprise for Daniel Wells.

Marcus: Travis Cloke

Travis ‘Ken Doll’ Cloke kicked 3 goals in the 1st quarter and finished with 5 for the game, managing a very tidy 132SC. Perhaps what is most surprising about Cloke’s score is that he performed on a stage like Anzac Day. Travis Cloke is notorious for his inconsistency and is especially known for disappearing in big games.

Letdowns Thus Far

Mark: Stephen Milne

Welcome back to earth, Stephen Milne. In round 4, Milne dominated against the Dockers and was a major factor in the Saints winning that game. In round 5, things just didn’t go right for Milney. While he did kick a brilliant goal, it just wasn’t his night. Poor efficiency and free kicks given away cost him a fair few points as he finished on an utterly hilarious –1.

Marcus: Shannon Byrnes

After starting the season with scores of 131 and 117, Byrnes looked set to have a stellar season. After being traded in by a few more coaches before the first price change, Byrnes has spudded it up to say the least. He’s produced deplorable scores of 56, 33 and 22 in the last 3 weeks… Absolutely horrible for his opening price of close to $450k. Massive breakeven of 164 and looks to plummet even further beyond his current price of $366,300.

Bargain Watch

Marcus: Dean Cox

Although the 119 he scored in round 4 is currently the outlier, it’s fair to say that Cox is back. Switching between the ruck and the forwardline, it is clear (as I have previously stated before) that he’s still Woosha’s first-choice ruckman. With a breakeven of just 85 this week and priced at just $474,900, Cox is currently $115,100 lower than his season-starting price! Many coaches with mid-tier ruckman will be licking their lips at the prospect of picking him up in the next couple of weeks.

Marcus: Scott Pendlebury

Pendlebury turned his recent slump in form around on the weekend with the Anzac Day medal and 130SC points to boot. Priced at $535,200, Pendles has well and truly bottomed out, with his poor score of 73 to move out of his price movements this week. Breakeven of 91. BUY! BUY! BUY!
