Navy Blue Skies Ahead?

“At the beginning of the year, the Baggas were struggling. Fev was gone and disgruntled Carlton Members had taken the scissors to their members’ tickets in protest. Just as we were all consigning the Blues to the lower reaches of the 8, or missing it altogether, Ratten and his team had different ideas. Chris Judd, surely one of the game’s current-day greats, returned from suspension and boy didn’t his return galvanise those Blueboys. Now the forecast is for clear Blue skies (perhaps with the odd storm in a teacup thrown in for good measure) – and as much as it irks me to say this, now is the time to consider some top-performing Baggas for your outfit!”

Here’s a bit of a teaser:
Heath Scotland ($508k, AV 103) Scotland is one of the more unique premiums in the backline this year. He is consistently scoring well, as evidenced by 8 scores of 98+! Heath’s numbers are most reassuring as he consistently reaps in 26+ disposals per game, and with that trusty left foot often finding its mark!”

Forward Frustration | Low on Trades & $?

“Are you feeling the pinch in the forward line? Traded yourself into a ditch? Seeing red? Pissed off? At your wits’ end with the bloody lot of ‘em? Well – me too! We’re in need of a fast fix and we need it soon. Hell, we’re on life support and dying here! Melodramatic? Not one bit.”

Here’s a bit of a teaser:
Neon’ Leon Davis, $381k, BE 69, AV 74. This highly-talented, explosive game breaker is extremely frustrating. No sooner does he dazzle us with high hundreds, will he go completely missing and throw up absolutely trash games in the 30s and 40s. However, his pedigree suggests that we should strongly consider this enigmatic Pie. Let me crunch the numbers – last year he took his scoring to a career high, averaging 111 SC points per game, though he did drop off in the latter half of the season. In 08′ he returned a more than satisfactory average of 95 SC……

Need Some Xtra Bite?

“Please consider these Bulldogs for your outfit – especially if you are struggling to make ends meet!”

Here’s a bit of a teaser:
Daniel Cross, $515k, BE 80, AV 110, while certain players have been out injured or out of form, Daniel has been making his owners proud. He is the epitome of the SCer’s best friend! A great guard dog, in that he defiantly brings down intruders to the kennel, as evidenced by his tackle count – you can rely on him getting 4-5 a game. The only quibble with him is that he doesn’t ‘kick the thing’ enough, but when we are about to snare a ‘unique’ averaging that well – frankly, who gives a damn? It is astounding that he is found in only approximately 3%+ of teams. Woof!

Should We Power Up?

“Throughout the year we shall be focusing on the ‘fantasy-relevant’ players from selected clubs whom we could consider as possible keeper upgrades leading into the next month. The team that has impressed me the most each week will be featured. This week Port Power have attracted our spotlight.”

Here’s a bit of a teaser:
Robbie Gray $438k, ave 82, BE 91. Yeah this fella started late due to hamstring trouble, threw in a couple of sub-par scores, mind you both against more than handy opposition in the Cats and the Saints, and yet we recommend him. He has the ability to affect a result as evidenced by his role in helping the Power win the ‘showdown’. There is a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ about this kid – the expectation and anticipation in the crowd is palpable when he is anywhere near the ball and this anticipation was well met with a sensational 5-goal return, one which could have easily been 7 or so. He is quite young at 21 and has huge upside – our only reservations are the soft tissues. Nevertheless, he could well reward any bold risk-takers with an average of 90 or more – very adequate for the F6/7 position.”

HOT PIES

“At the start of the year I just could not factor in one of my beloved Pies! That guy was over-priced, this guy was coming from another club, that kid needed another year, two ruckmen – how would that work?

Well, now is the time to start loading your team up on some quality HOT PIES!”

Despite being written by a tad-subjective Collingwood supporter, the four particular players profiled in the ‘Hot Pies’ article are very fantasy relevant as they currently sit high up on many SCers’ lists of upgrade targets.

THE DIRTY DOZEN

“This is the second installment of this column and we shall be presenting this piece weekly! We hope that it will save you time by highlighting some of the more striking Fallen Premiums! Our last effort was rather dull in presentation so we shall endeavour to spruce it up a bit! Lozza shall write up six and ‘The Guru’ will add his half-dozen!”

Here’s a bit of a teaser:
Leon “Neon” Davis $530,100 – BE 153 Neon has been up and down this season. He was able to flash into the game against Melbourne and weave some magic to kick the match-winning goal. Against Hawthorn he was uncharacteristically inaccurate. Nevertheless, his contribution was enough to garner another SC ton! As we know Neon does not churn out regular tons, but what we admire him for is his ability to influence the game – the quintessential impact player! As his scores trend down towards a more palatable $500k Leon should attract more owners – still a little pricey but we shall track his progress!”
